The role of the News Reporter is to identify an event in the chapters read that is worth covering and write a news article about it. 1. Complete the planning sheet in your Literature Circles duo tang.
2. Think who might have witnessed the event or has some something to say about it. (E.g., a character's friend, parents, an expert in the field etc)
3. Use the responses to your questions to write the article. Add a catchy headline.
You can use the template in your Literature Circles duotang, a Word processor, or a pen & paper to complete your role. Post your news article on TEAMS in your book channel.
SUCCESS CRITERIA
1. Your articles answers 5 W and H questions (Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?)
2. Article contains at least 7-8 sentences
3. It contains quotes from the people who might have witness and event or had something to say about it.
4. The article includes a variety of sentence structure. 5. There are no errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation.
GOING BEYOND
Draw an illustration for your newspaper article. Add captions to explain what is happening in the picture.
Look for creative ways to present your work. E.g., Use white paper to create an newspaper layout. Include your work as a front page article.
